AEA Congratulates The Pathway to Ship Building Program Latest Cohort

We’re excited to celebrate the successful completion of the Pathways to Shipbuilding program for the People of African Descent Cohort 2!

As a community partner, the Africadian Empowerment Academy (AEA) supported participants as they explored careers in the Irving Shipbuilding. Over 18+ months, we saw tremendous growth, not just in technical skills, but also in confidence, leadership, and vision for the future.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners: Nova Scotia Community College – NSCC, Irving Shipbuilding Inc., Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, Office of African Nova Scotian Affairs, & the Department of Labour, Skills & Immigration, along with industry leaders, facilitators, and community members who made this journey possible.

Together, we are strengthening representation and building sustainable career pathways within Nova Scotia’s shipbuilding sector. To our 18 participants, your resilience and commitment are commendable. This is only the beginning!

At  AEA, we remain committed to advancing opportunities, fostering empowerment, and creating spaces where our communities can thrive.
