Joining our volunteer program is easy! Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Apply: Fill out our online volunteer application form
  2. Meet: Our Volunteer Lead will contact you to discuss your interests and match you with a suitable role.( Generate an automated welcome email and an instruction to create an account on the volunteer platform)
  3. Train: Participate in a volunteer orientation and training session. ( A link to the volunteer platform to undergo the orientation will be sent after an account has been created for the volunteer)
  4. Engage: Start making a difference in your chosen role!
  • Volunteer Handbook: A volunteer handbook will be made available to you after joining our volunteer team.
  • Code of Conduct: All volunteers must read and acknowledge our code of conduct policy.

We offer a variety of volunteer roles including tutoring, mentoring, community outreach, event coordination, program assistance, legal advising, health and wellness support, fundraising, and special project roles such as trades instructors and building committee members.

To apply, simply fill out our online volunteer application form. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to discuss your interests and match you with a suitable role.

The time commitment varies depending on the role. Some positions may require a few hours a week, while others might be more flexible. We strive to accommodate the schedules of our Volunteers.

While some roles may require specific skills or qualifications, many of our volunteer opportunities are open to individuals with a passion for helping others and a willingness to learn. Training and support are provided for all roles.

Yes, all volunteers participate in an orientation and training session to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles. Ongoing support and training are also provided as needed.

Absolutely! We offer flexible volunteer opportunities that can fit around your existing commitments. Whether you have a few hours to spare each week or can only volunteer occasionally, we have a role that can work for you.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Some roles may have additional age requirements or require parental consent for younger volunteers.

We value and appreciate our volunteers! Regular recognition and appreciation events, certificates of appreciation, and volunteer spotlights are just some of the ways we show our gratitude. Additionally, we provide references and letters of recommendation upon request.

Volunteers can log their hours through our online volunteer management system Bloomerang. This helps us keep track of your contributions and ensures you receive the recognition you deserve.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a shift, please inform the Project/Program Lead as soon as possible. We understand that things come up and appreciate your communication.

Yes, we welcome groups from schools, businesses, and community organizations to volunteer with us. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss group opportunities and scheduling.

AEA is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all volunteers. We have policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our volunteers, staff, and program participants.

Depending on the role, there may be opportunities for remote volunteering. Please discuss your interest in remote opportunities with the Volunteer Coordinator to see what options are available.
